Dolphins Trying to Make Deal for No. 3 Without Giving Up No. 5 Pick --- Would you accept Pick 18, 26, and 39 but NOT No. 5?https://t.co/4GR7Robxoj
8:05 am: Dan Graziano of ESPN reports the Lions had significant contact with Clemson LB Isaiah Simmons ahead of the 2020 NFL Draft.
I am told Lions have had a lot of pre-draft contact with Clemson's Isaiah Simmons, who is in the mix for them at No. 3 along with Jeff Okudah, Derrick Brown, others. Lions would prefer to trade back 2-3 spots and still get one from that group, but it's unclear whether they can.

9:00 am: Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports a possibility the Lions and Dolphins may have a deal in place for the Lions to draft at Pick No. 5 in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

More than ever, teams will try to work out trades before the NFL Draft begins just in case. To that point: The #Lions have been engaged with multiple teams on potentially trading out of the No. 3 spot, sources say. Things have heated up over the last 24 hours. 🔥

1:22 p.m. One of the biggest question marks in the 2020 NFL draft will be how the team that drafts linebacker Isaiah Simmons will plan to use him. There are plenty of ideas though, as Simmons is one of the most gifted players in the draft class.
The curiosity that is #Clemson's Isaiah Simmons: Where do you play him? Teams are all over the map. pic.twitter.com/juEcgldnXR

7:17 p.m. The Chase Young dreams to Detroit are likely dashed for good.
The #Redskins have received calls from teams about potentially trading up to No. 2. But they’ve made a decision, and sources say no trade. They are making the pick… because they love the player who will be there for them.

7:51 p.m. ESPN's Dan Graziano reports that Lions have had conversations with Dolphins, Chargers and Jaguars regarding third pick.
I am told the Lions have talked today with the Dolphins, Chargers and Jaguars as they have tried to trade down from No. 3. Once they pick, based on the conversations I've had, I believe it'll be from this list: Isaiah Simmons, Jeff Okudah, Derrick Brown, Javon Kinlaw.
— Dan Graziano (@DanGrazianoESPN) April 23, 2020
Chargers, as I said, have talked to Lions about trading up from 6, but I don't get the sense they're overly desperate to do it. They have a group of players they like and could be happy sitting tight. Most likely pick, I believe, is a QB, but OT would not be a surprise.

Imagine if the Lions had kept Slay and drafted Simmons 👀
— Ryan Field (@RyanFieldABC) April 24, 2020
Nahhh, that would’ve made far too much sense.
You don’t EVER draft a cornerback in the top 5 of the #NFLDraft, unless he’s a Woodson/Deion type talent, because the league doesn’t let you cover receivers anyway.

9:46 p.m. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reports that Lions did not receive trade offer for No. 3 pick.
In the end, neither Miami nor the Chargers nor any other team ever made an offer to move up to Detroit’s or the New York Giants’ spots, per league sources. The Dolphins and Chargers were content to stay where they were and pick. And that helps explain why first trade at No. 13.
