The 2022 NFL Draft is quickly approaching.

All throughout the pre-draft process, the Detroit Lions have provided subtle clues for fans and pundits to consider regarding their draft plans.

The latest was given by Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who indicated the team is expecting the selection at No. 2 will be a starter by the time the 2022 season is set to begin.

Here are five burning Lions questions ahead of the draft.

If the Jacksonville Jaguars select Travon Walker with the No. 1 overall pick, who will be the choice at No. 2?

Many pundits believe Aidan Hutchinson would be the easy choice, based on his collegiate career at Michigan.

Throughout the pre-draft process, Hutchinson has said and done everything to give most general managers hope he can be productive at the pro level.

The question personnel staff will have to ponder is whether Hutchinson can develop further into one of the league's elite defensive lineman.

There are question marks regarding his ceiling, making his selection challenging.

Detroit could still go in another direction if Hutchinson is available, including drafting Jordan Davis out of Georgia, Jermaine Johnson out of Florida State or Kayvon Thibodeaux out of Oregon.

Will the Lions trade down?

While it is often debated whether or not the Lions should trade down, it does not appear to be in the cards this season.

Typically, a quarterback would drive the market way up for a team possessing the No. 2 pick.

Unfortunately, the perception has been that there isn't a quarterback who is a true game-changer in the draft.

With depth at multiple positions that teams covet, NFL general managers may not be willing to trade the necessary draft picks in order to motivate the Lions' front office.

It is very likely that Detroit stands pat and makes a selection after the Jaguars turn in their draft card.

Will the Lions draft a quarterback this year?

The speculation has hit its full crescendo regarding the Lions' interest in quarterback Malik Willis.

In a recent interview with Rich Eisen, Liberty head coach Hugh Freeze did not mention the Lions as a team that has spoken directly to him, leading some to believe Willis may not be on the Lions' radar.

Recall, Willis spent a week with the Lions' coaching staff at the Senior Bowl.

If Detroit passes on Willis, the next two QB candidates who could be targeted by Detroit are Matt Corral and Desmond Ridder, both of whom could be taken with the Lions' second of two first-round picks at No. 32 overall.

While the Lions do need to target a quarterback to develop soon, all indications are that the team is quite comfortable with Jared Goff.

In what round of the draft will the Lions draft a wide receiver?

Arguably, the crop of wideouts is among the deepest in recent memory.

It can be argued that the longer the Lions wait to target a wideout, the riskier the selection becomes.

Detroit cannot afford for its first wideout it chooses in the draft to struggle.

It is such a need for the offense that general manager Brad Holmes could even consider trading back into the first round to select a wideout that the organization covets.

Will the Lions trade any members of the roster for future draft capital?

Could Holmes and Co. decide that certain members of the roster are no longer worth building around?

Three candidates who could be the target of draft trades include running back D'Andre Swift, left tackle Taylor Decker and tight end T.J. Hockenson.

Adding additional capital is imperative for a team that is in full-rebuild mode.

Detroit's front office likely could be convinced to part ways with several members of a roster that only won three games last season, if the return involves additional draft capital in the 2022 or 2023 draft.
