Rob Gronkowski Headlines 2026 Nominees for Patriots Hall of Fame

In this story:
The process to select the primary inductee into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame Class of 2026 is officially underway.
The 23 members comprising the Patriots Hall of Fame committee held their annual meeting on April 1 at Gillette Stadium to narrow this year’s field of nominees to three finalists. Every former Patriots player or head coach who has been retired for at least four years is eligible for consideration.
Among those eligible for induction are six Patriots players from the franchise’s ‘dynasty years’ who have now moved one step closer to being enshrined among the team’s greatest legends. In total, the committee considered the cases of eight former Patriots.
If selected, the three finalists’ fate will be decided by a fan vote on Patriots.com, with only the top vote-getter earning a spot in this year’s class.
Here is a look at this year’s nominees:
Julius Adams
Adams spent his entire 16-year NFL career with the Patriots, earning a Pro Bowl nomination in 1980. He played in 206 games, started 158 games, had 80.5 sacks, forced at least 12 fumbles and recovered seven fumbles.
Rob Gronkowski
In terms of on-field prowess, Gronkowski has few, if any, equals. He finishes his illustrious career having compiled 9,286 yards on 621 receptions with 92 touchdowns. He earned four first-team All-Pro selections, five pro bowl nods and four Super Bowl championships — three of which he earned with the Patriots.
Dont’a Hightower
During his tenure in New England, Hightower earned a second-team All-Pro selection in 2016, along with two Pro Bowl nods (2016, 2019.) He appeared in a combined 134 regular season and playoff games, and registered 650 combined tackles as well as 30 sacks, six fumble recoveries, and two interceptions.

Logan Mankins
Mankins is widely regarded as one of the best offensive linemen in franchise history. The Fresno State product spent nine of his 11 NFL seasons with the Pats after joining the team as a first-round draft pick in 2005. Mankins was a three-time team captain, earning six Pro Bowl selections and six All-Pro honors (2007, 2009-13) during his time with New England,
Lawyer Milloy
Milloy spent seven seasons with the Patriots from 1996 through 2002. He was a four-time Pro Bowl selection, a two-time All-Pro and a member of the Patriots' Super Bowl XXXVI championship team. Milloy finished his career with 1,439 tackles,, 21 sacks, 25 interceptions, 12 forced fumbles, nine fumble recoveries and one defensive touchdown.
Mosi Tatupu
Tatupu spent 13 of his 14 NFL seasons as a Patriots running back, professionally residing in Foxborough from 1978-1990. He earned a Pro Bowl nod in 1986, while finishing his career with 612 carries for 2,415 yards and 18 touchdowns. He also 96 passes for 843 yards and two touchdowns, while contributing as a fullback and an ace on special teams.

Adam Vinatieri
Vinatieri is indeed widely regarded as the greatest kicker in NFL history. He retired as the league's all-time leader in points scored (2,673) and field goals made (599). The South Dakota native connected on a number of clutch kicks, the most notable of which came in Super Bowls XXXVI and XXXVIII remain among the most iconic moments in NFL history.
Wes Welker
Welker played in the NFL for 12 seasons, most notably with Patriots (2007-12) and holds the NFL record for most receptions by an undrafted player. He finished his career with 903 catches for 9.924 yards and 50 touchdowns. He earned Pro Bowl selections in five of his six seasons with New England, led the league in receptions three times and set the franchise record for receptions.

Additional Details
Each member of the committee completed a ballot at this week’s meeting, per the notes of ESPN’s Mike Reiss. The nomination process is a numerical process, by which the No. 1 candidate is assigned five points, the No. 2 candidate assigned three points, and the No. 3 candidate assigned one point. The votes of all 23 committee members are tabulated, with the Patriots expected to announce them on or around April 8.
Also, per Reiss’ report, a 10-person Senior Committee — which was “established to ensure early-era players are not overlooked” — is next scheduled to meet in 2027. A player must be retired for at least 25 years to be considered by the Senior Committee.
In the past, the player would have had to previously be a Patriots Hall of Fame finalist to qualify. However, the committee ratified a change which no longer makes that the case. Per Reiss, this is a significant development, opening the door for players such as Julius Adams and Mosi Tatupu to be considered along with previous finalists Ron Burton (2007) and Fred Marion (2012). A candidate must receive 80% of the vote from the Senior Committee for induction.
