Source: Patriots Add Offensive Line Depth, Reunite With Jack Conley

The New England Patriots dipped into the free agent market to bolster their offensive line.

FOXBORO --- The New England Patriots have lost three offensive linemen in their last two preseason games, and have now made a move to help bolster the trenches.

According to a source, the Patriots have agreed to a contract with free agent guard Jack Conley. The former Boston College Eagle was originally signed to the Patriots as an undrafted free agent last summer.

Conley, 25, spent six years at BC, playing in 60 games and was named an All-ACC Honorable Mention for starting 12 games in his final graduate season. He inked his deal with the Patriots for training camp before getting released during roster cutdowns. During the preseason, he played 76 total snaps.

The Patriots have signed OG Jack Conley, per source.

He spent two separate stints with the team last year as a rookie.

He would later re-sign with the team's practice squad for a brief, 20-day stint in early September. He would be cut at the end of the month.

His rookie year ended with stints on the Detroit Lions and Cleveland Browns, where he remained on their practice squad for the rest of the season. Conley was released earlier this month by Cleveland after inking a futures deal to close 2025.

What Conley Can Bring To New England:

His size (6-foot-7, 333 pounds) helps add some much-needed depth to an offensive line depleted by injuries. The Patriots lost backups Ben Brown and Andrew Rupcich to injuries in their first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, and then lost backup offensive tackle Marcus Bryant this weekend against the Eagles.

"I do not think we have a very deep team," head coach Mike Vrabel said over the weekend about playing starters during the preseason, "so I think we have to make sure that we are preparing our football team and that we are doing everything that we can to keep our best players available."

During his college career, Conley spent time at right guard, left guard and right tackle. He also got reps as an eligible tight end, and could certainly play a large role in the team's final preseason game against the Browns this week.

Conley joins an interior offensive line room that already has Mike Onwenu, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Greg Van Roten, James Hudson, Mehki Butler, Jacob Rizy, Darrian Dalcourt, Joe Michalski and JonDarius Morgan. They'll need to make a corresponding move to make room for Conley.
