The Las Vegas Raiders drafted Amari Burney out of Florida with their sixth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Burney now gets to play alongside his cousin, cornerback Brandon Facyson and brings a family connection to the Raiders.

Brandon Facyson is a newly acquired pickup this off-season for the Raiders. Facyson spent last season with the Indianapolis Colts. However, he played for the Raiders during the 2021 NFL season.

Facyson played a total of 16 games with the Colts last season, where he had a total of 28 tackles, with 24 of them solos.

Here is what Amari Burney said about getting the opportunity to play alongside his cousin.

"[I]t was surreal for the Raiders to call me and then the feeling I had was I was shaking," Burney said after being drafted. "I didn't want to cry, but I think like two tears dropped from my eyes a little bit. I was just really shaking, I couldn't really speak when we were on the phone talking. And it just really feels surreal that I get to play with my cousin, he plays for the Raiders right now. My Mom was talking about it a long time ago. She was like: 'What if the Raiders call you and then you get to reunite with your cousin for the first time?' So, this feeling is great right now."

Burney is coming off a great 2022 season with the Florida Gators. He played a total of 13 games during the 2022 college football season. He had 41 solo tackles and a total of 79 total. Burney also had two interceptions for the Gators last season.

With the addition of the two cousins playing together, how both defensive players will bond together on the Raiders will be unique.
