It's Not Too Late For Ravens To Hire Sean McDermott

In this story:
There's certainly no love lost between the Baltimore Ravens and Buffalo Bills, but at the end of the day game respects game.
When the Ravens decided to move on from John Harbaugh, fans were shocked but in the best way possible. They didn't actually expect their team to do it, but here they are. Having interviewed a number of fine candidates, a top name just emerged on the market: now former Bills head coach Sean McDermott.
The Bills moving on from McDermott is something no one could have predicted. This late into the head coach hiring process, Baltimore may have to pivot and take a look at the 51-year-old.

The Ravens could absolutely hire someone with the offensive mind of Mike McDaniel or look towards a Brian Flores caliber defensive guru, but McDermott is right there for the taking.
McDermott, who had been the coach of the Bills since 2017, has only coached for three NFL teams in his career spanning back to 1999. The 2024 Greasy Neale Award winner has a career 105-57 record which includes his 8-8 postseason performances.
Sure, the Bills weren't able to make a Super Bowl under McDermott, but it's not like the Ravens have had much playoff success in recent memory. Neither team is able to get over that hump, and that's something the Ravens would have to strongly consider if they even look at bringing in McDermott.

Teams like the New York Giants and Atlanta Falcons didn't hesitate to make their hires, but now McDermott being on the market could change who teams are looking at. There's no doubt the longtime Bills coach is going to need time to process this decision, and it's one that came a week later than expected.
To be fair, no one expected the Bills to move on from him. In a world where the Green Bay Packers extended Matt LaFleur's contract, McDermott seemed as safe as ever.
With the Ravens inching closer towards their second round of interviews, they may delay things even further by bringing in McDermott. That's not necessarily a bad thing as this team needs to do everything in their power to make the right decision, but knowing McDermott's experience with Josh Allen, one can only imagine what he could do with Lamar Jackson. At this point, the Ravens have nothing to lose and should absolutely give him a look.
