Aaron Rodgers on Track to Break Steelers Franchise Record

PITTSBURGH -- Aaron Rodgers recently surpassed Ben Roethlisberger for the fifth-most passing yards in NFL history. Ironically, he did it while on the Pittsburgh Steelers. And there's another historical mark he can surpass Big Ben on this season, and looks to be on pace to do so.

Roethlisberger will go down as the greatest quarterback the Steelers have ever had. Overall, at least. Some quarterbacks have stopped in and paid their time with the franchise, and Rodgers will be amongst those after his year with Pittsburgh. But when speaking about franchise quarterbacks, Big Ben sits first to many.

With that, he holds several franchise records. One of which, Rodgers is on pace to break this season.

Rodgers On Pace to Make Steelers History

Rodgers has thrown 14 touchdowns this season, which leads the NFL through Week 7. Currently, he's on pace to throw for 40 touchdowns in 2025, tying his third-best mark throughout his 21-year career. His best was 48 touchdowns, with 45 touchdowns being No. 2.

In Steelers history, no quarterback has hit the 40 touchdown mark. The best was Roethlisberger in 2018 when he threw for 34 touchdowns, as the Steelers went 9-6-1. He led the NFL in passing yards that year with 5,129 and pass completions/attempts, connecting on 452 of his 675 passes.

Rodgers, this season, has two four-touchdown performances and has thrown a touchdown in each of the Steelers' first six games. His next battle will be against his former team, the Green Bay Packers, in Week 8.

Steelers Offense Coming to Life

The Steelers offense seems to be finding their groove as they near the midway point of the season. They've scored over 20 points in all but one games this season and above 30 in two outings. Meanwhile, Rodgers is coming off his most passing yards and four touchdowns against the Bengals, and running back Jaylen Warren averaged over seven yards per carry while talling 129 yards on the ground in Cincinnati.

Pittsburgh may not be done adding, either. According to recent reports, the team is looking to add another wide receiver before the NFL trade deadline, with names like A.J. Brown, Chris Olave and Jaylen Waddle being red hot on the rumor mill.

With four tight ends in use and DK Metcalf leading the way as WR1, Pittsburgh's offense could add another name for Rodgers that will accompany Calvin Austin III as WR2. A move that could help Rodgers make franchise history on the Steelers' way to the playoffs.
