NASHVILLE- Six days ago, I penned (typed to be correct) an article on the Tennessee Titans need- in my opinion-to, find an X-factor offensive weapon in the mold of Deebo Samuel, someone new Titans general manager Ran Carthon knows well.

Samuel is a do-it-all weapon for San Francisco, who is a receiver, but lines up at running back, as well as quarterback, and most anywhere other than the offensive line. He creates matchup nightmares for defenses and big plays for his offense.

That's something that the Titans need and something the fans here would love to see on Sundays.

So on Monday afternoon, as Carthon fielded questions during his pre-draft press conference, I  asked him if there were any players in this class like Samuel, who could do the same things the 49ers star does.

"Yeah, there are a couple of guys in this draft, whether at the wide receiver position or the running back position," said Carthon. You know, I'm sure if Deebo heard this, he'd be mad about me referring to him as a running back. He coined the phrase wide back, is what he likes to call himself. So, there are players in this draft that can do similar things to him that are at the running back position, as well as the receiver position."

While the obvious follow-up questions would have been, who are they, and are you going to draft them, there was no need. Carthon had mentioned earlier that he wouldn't be naming specific players, thus the lack of a more detailed follow-up question.

Granted, Carthon is not the offensive coordinator; Tim Kelly is, and it will be his job to build the offense based on the talent provided to him. Still, having a general manager from a team with creative coaches leads me to think that Carthon might want to land a multi-dimensional talent who could be used similarly to Samuel.

Adding this tool to the arsenal would also seem to fit what Carthons said he was looking for, good football players.
