Tennessee Titans Active as Trade Deadline Approaches According to Dianna Russini's Recent Report

The Tennessee Titans have been receiving trade calls with the NFL trade deadline just a week away, including limited interest in Derrick Henry and one conversation about Treylon Burks.

The Tennessee Titans sit just a week away from the NFL's October 31 trade deadline and they have some interesting decisions to make. While it wouldn't be the Titans' style to trade off veterans for draft picks less than halfway through the year, a 2-4 record, or perhaps 2-5 by this time next week, could force them into action.

According to a recent report from The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Titans have been getting calls on a few players and have found a lack of interest in one particularly interesting name.

"The Tennessee Titans need draft capital and have been getting calls from general managers over the last few days. Though I haven’t found a team showing significant interest in Derrick Henry, sources around the league tell me Tennessee has received calls about safety Kevin Byard, and one team reached out about wide receiver Treylon Burks. I don’t get a sense Tennessee will move any young player."

The lack of interest around Henry is worth watching. If you asked a certain section of the Titans' fan base they would be shocked, while others would not be as surprised considering Henry is approaching 30 years old, has declined as a player whether Titans fans want to believe it or not, and would still be owed more than $5 million in salary the rest of the season.

As for the players that are actually garnering interest, Kevin Byard makes the most sense as a trade the Titans should make. Byard was asked to take a pay cut in the offseason, so clearly the team didn't view him as worth his pay. Also, based on the changes made to his contract during Byard's pay cut, his chances of being with the team next year are slim.

The Burks comment is interesting. Burks has certainly gotten off to a rough start in his Titans career, but with Burks being a former first-round pick and still playing under a rookie contract, makes it unlikely the Titans would consider that move and according to Russini, they aren't.

The Titans have some interesting choices to make and the outcome of their Week 8 game against the Falcons will likely determine their interest level in making any moves.
