According to FanDuel sportsbook, Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield’s player prop for passing yards is set at 3,899 with the Over and Under coming in at -112. If Mayfield reaches the over on that total, it would be a career-high. He threw for 3,725 yards as a rookie and then 3,827 yards in 2019. The Browns hired new head coach Kevin Stefanski which means Mayfield and the Browns will have to learn a new playbook despite having virtually no mini-camp or OTAs due to the coronavirus. Sports Illustrated’s gambling analyst Jaime Eisner and BrownsDigest Pete Smith weigh in on the likelihood of Mayfield reaching the over on his player prop.

Read the full transcript from the interview below:

Bill Enright: In twenty nineteen Browns, quarterback Baker Mayfield threw for three thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven yards. Can he get to three thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine? In 2020. That is what Baker Mayfield's prop bet for his passing yards and in 2020. Let's bring on Peter Smith from Browns Digest and Jamie Eisner, our fantasy and gambling analyst here at Sports Illustrated. Jamie, I'll go to you first. Let's talk about what the oddsmakers have this over-under.

Jaime Eisner: Yeah, they have even minus 12 juice here on both sides. So they're not really leaning heavily in one direction or the other. This is an interesting one for me because I'm actually leaning toward the under here and it's less about Baker Mayfield's talent and more about where I think we'll be successful for the Browns offense warning. A lot of math isn't coming here. When Kevin Stefanski as their new head coach, when he took over the offense in Minnesota, Kirk Cousins is average attempts per game dropped from forty points three to twenty-nine point two and is average passing yards per game dropped from to eighty-five to thirty-three. I think we could see similar drops for Baker Mayfield in 2020 as the Browns look to rely on their really star tandem of backs and Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt a little bit more. And that might be the key to their success. So this might actually be a more successful season for the Browns, but maybe not statistically as promising for Baker Mayfield.

BAKER MAYFIELD

Bill Enright: Pete, let's talk about Kevin Stefanski, who Jamie brought up as the new head coach for the Browns. There's been no minicamp, there's been no Otway's training camp could be postponed or shortened due to the coronavirus. We're not sure yet. But since the Browns are getting a new offensive scheme, what is Baker Mayfield said about learning this new playbook?

Pete Smith: Well, Baker Mayfield is in Austin, Texas. He's got a bunch of his receivers down there. They are working on the offense. They've been doing the zoom in the virtual playbook classroom-type stuff. And there, you know, they feel good about it. They are trying to basically take the opposite note they did last year, which was largely like a runaway truck with its wheels falling off. They. They just want to prove it, they want to get back in that mindset where they've got, you know, that chip on their shoulder, and I think I think Jamie makes a good point. The only pushback I would have slightly on that is if you go back to Baker Mayfield's rookie year, that he was so much better in terms of yards per attempt, he was better in terms of just protecting the football. And if he does those two things, I think that could counteract a lot of what he might lose in sort of raw passing yards and raw pass attempts and just make up for efficiency in terms of what he's able to do from a production standpoint.

Bill Enright: All right, great analysis, Jaime and Pete, we appreciate it. Plenty more NFL superstars prop bets. You can find them by going to si.com.
