Arne Slot Reveals Expectations for Liverpool Transfer Activity

Liverpool manager Arne Slot has confessed he does not expect the club to do any business this month, but the door is open for a new signing to arrive before the end of the January transfer window.
The Reds spent big during the summer but are yet to yield the rewards of the most expensive transfer window in history. Among those recruits were striker Alexander Isak, who will miss several months with a broken leg, and teenage defender Giovanni Leoni, who has not played this season after suffering an ACL injury.
Right back Conor Bradley has also suffered a season-ending knee injury which has added to the test facing Liverpool’s squad depth and has seen many fans urge the club to dip into the transfer market for reinforcements.
While Slot is open to a new addition, he confirmed he believes his squad will stay the same between now and the end of the transfer window.
“That’s what I expect, yes,” the Dutchman said.
“But as I always say, if there’s an opportunity in the market or we think we can strengthen, this club will try to do so, but at this moment in time I expect it to stay mainly the same.”
Slot Confident on Summer Signings

Having seen their club spend over £400 million ($538.9 million) during the summer, Liverpool fans were expecting to see their side kick on and build on last season’s Premier League title triumph. To say things have not gone to plan would be an understatement.
Record-signing Isak has battled both poor form and injury since arriving from Newcastle United, while Florian Wirtz has only recently started to flash glimpses of the potential that convinced Liverpool to spend £116 million on his services.
Another to have endured a slow start is left back Milos Kerkez. Recruited from Bournemouth for around £40 million, the Hungary international was hailed as one of the Premier League’s finest before his switch but, like Wirtz, has needed a significant spell to adapt to life at Anfield.
Slot is not concerned by Kerkez’s initial struggles, backing the 21-year-old and the rest of his summer signings to prove their worth in future seasons.
“I think if we talk about Milos and a lot of signings we’ve made, you can see the progress they’re making,” he continued.
“In terms of adjustment to the team but also in power and being able, I don’t think Milos was playing on the weekend and also in the week [at Bournemouth], but he is getting stronger and stronger in my opinion. It was a moment to give him that game during the week as well and he did really well in Marseille.
“If you look at each of our signings, they won’t only be better this second half of the season but they’ll be better next season and better the season afterwards. That is the way this club is run. We sign young players with a lot of room for development.”
