Jul 30, 2022; Dallas, TX, USA; Derrick Lewis (red gloves) before a fight with Sergei Pavlovich (not pictured) in a heavyweight bout during UFC 277 at the American Airlines Center.

SI Video’s Doug Vazquez:

Slightly surprised that the odds on the main event are not closer to even-money as Derrick Lewis has proven he can bounce back after losses and appears to have changed his approach to this camp to plug some holes that have plagued him in back-to-back defeats. I am looking at two props for this fight. No way this bout sees the scorecards, especially with the smaller Octagon in use at the APEX. Someone is going to to sleep and I will back the guy who has knocked out more opponents in history with the Black Beast, but his approach will be more methodical so I see it happening somewhere after 1.5 rounds.

BETS: Over 1.5 rounds (-111); Derrick Lewis via KO +200

SI MMA’s Justin Barrasso:

This is as close to a must-win for Derrick Lewis as possible. He’s lost two in a row - and three of four. Coming off suffering a wildly disappointing first-round TKO this summer against Sergei Pavlovich, it is imperative that Lewis gets back in the win column against Serghei Spivac. Lewis has never been known for his stamina. He is all about pure, unadulterated power, and he needs a first-round KO here to keep his top-10 ranking.

BET: Derrick Lewis via KO (+200)

SI Video’s Julian Pinto:

I’m paying close attention to the fight between Ricky Turcios and Kevin Natividad. Ricky Turcios is an exciting fighter and that excitement is also his downfall. Turcios has a very high-octane style that he lives and dies by. If you get a fighter who can null his high-pressure striking, whether it be by grappling or by keeping distance and picking Turcios apart, his gameplay goes away. I do not think we will see that with Martin Natividad, all of his three pro losses have been finishes due to strikes. Natividad will indulge Turcios’s wild antics, and Turcios will get the win via strikes.

BET: Ricky Turcios via KO (+400)
