Watch: Imagine Dragons, Lil Wayne Perform at Halftime of College Football Playoff Championship

Lil Wayne made a surprise appearance during the group's halftime performance at the 2019 national championship game between Clemson and Alabama.

Imagine Dragons headlined the halftime show at the 2019 College Football Playoff championship game on Jan. 7.

In the second year of the game featuring a Super Bowl-type halftime performance, the group performed from Treasure Island in the San Francisco Bay with a special appearance from rapper Lil Wayne (and his ridiculous outfit).

"Natural," which Imagine Dragons released last July, was the anthem for ESPN's college football coverage this season. It was the second time that ESPN had chosen an Imagine Dragons song to pair with its college football coverage, the first being “Roots” in 2015.

The performance was not Imagine Dragons' first at a major sporting event. The Grammy Award-winning group performed before Game 2 of the Stanley Cup final earlier this year in Las Vegas.

Kendrick Lamar performed at last season's halftime of the College Football Playoff championship game in Atlanta, which was eventually won by the Crimson Tide.

Both Clemson and Alabama's school bands still performed at halftime of the game in Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., with Imagine Dragons performance being broadcast for the game's television audience.
