JaMarcus Russell and Other Athletes Who Shed the Pounds

Former No. 1 overall NFL draft pick JaMarcus Russell likes to eat, and by 2010, he had eaten himself out of the NFL and was looking for work. He eventually found his way to the TEST Football Academy, where he reportedly lost 50 pounds and is back to his pre-draft weight. You can see the difference by sliding left to right on the above photo. Russell isn't alone. We've found 11 other athletes who underwent a dramatic weight loss. Slide away and see for yourself.

Ugly Night in Sports

Not sure why, but last night's sports action played like one long blooper reel.  Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki somehow got his stick caught under his visor, while Predators goalie Pekke Rinne got flattened by his goalpost. In college football, Cal ran the worst fake punt in football history, which was not nearly as ugly as Cincinnati's failed fourth-down attempt. And then there were the Sixers, who were down 73-30 at halftime on their way to a 123-70 loss to the Mavs.

Watch What You Say About Brandon Marshall's Mom

Social media has given fans a new way to troll athletes but one Twitter user barked up the wrong tree. A Lions fan went on Instagram to remind Brandon Marshall that Detroit is no longer Chicago's "little brother," a term Marshall used last year when the Bears weren't as bad as they are this season. The fan then took a dig at the receiver's mom, which led to a $25,000 challenge from Marshall to get in the ring.

Lovely Lady of the Day

Alexis Ren just passed the 500,000-follower mark on Instagram. This seems like a cause for celebration and LLOD honors (click here for full-size gallery).

This Will Depress You

As you work away in your cubicle waiting for the weekend, just know that the University of Florida paid Stephen A. Smith $26,000 to speak with students.

Be A Good Person Friday

See Spot Rescued is a non-profit dog rescue organization based in my current hometown of Jersey City. Not only do they rescue dogs from kill shelters across the country, but also they give the dogs celebrity names. Right now, you can adopt a border collie named Jane Krakowskior this hound/boxer mix named Benedict Cumberbatch. So if you want to adopt a dog, please contact them. And if you have an extra $10, please donate and help save a dog's life.
