The 2020 Triple Crown of Horse Racing starts this weekend on June 20th with the Belmont Stakes. Now that the post positions have been released, the sports books published their initial odds on which horse will win the “Test of the Champions.”
Tis the Law is the initial favorite with 6/5 odds and will break from post position eight. Sole Volante is the second favorite with odds of 9/2 and Dr. Post is third with 5-to-1 odds.
Sports Illustrated’s gambling insider, Frank Taddeo, highlights the post positions and odds for all ten horses in the upcoming race.

Bill Enright: The post positions for the Belmont Stakes have now been released, and we have our first look at the opening odds for this Triple Crown race. Let's bring on Frank Taddeo, SI gambling analyst. Frank, I know we've been looking forward to some sports betting action. Finally, we get that with the Belmont, and now we know which horses are favored to win the race. What do you have?
Frank Taddeo: Finally, horse racing is back and they're ready to take center stage on Saturday afternoon, and obviously earlier today, on Wednesday morning, we learned where each Triple Crown hopeful will now break from in the Belmont Stakes. With those Post positions being known, Sportsbet now has their first look at the opening odds. Mark Hasse has two horses in the field, according to the opening odds, and one of them is the favorite, "Tiz the Law" who drew post position number 8 and is now being listed with odds of 6 to 5 as well as "Tap It to Win," who will break from the rail and checks in as the 4th overall betting choice at odds of 6 to1. Patrick Biancone's "Sole Volante" right now he's in it with odds of 9 to 2 and he'll jump right back into action on only 10 days rest, and he's listed as the second overall betting choice after drawing post position number 2. Top trainer Todd Pletcher has two entries as well. “Dr. Post,” who drew an outside post of number 9 and was assigned odds of 5 to 1, as well as the 3rd overall betting choice of "Farmington Road." Right now, we see him coming in at odds of 15 to 1 after drawing post position number 5. It's so great, Bill, to have the Triple Crown taking place, albeit once again without fans at the track. However, it's a great opportunity for bettors to jump in right now and make exotic wages as well as horizontal wages. I can't wait to get my hands on the Daily Racing Forum to handicap this race further because it's going to be a great race and is a full field of ten and a great opportunity for all bettors to jump in right now and make some money this weekend.
Bill Enright: Yeah, you mentioned your picks will be coming later in the week. Be sure to check out or keep an eye on those, we'll be dropping them at SI.com/gambling. Thanks, Frank.
