It feels like the fight between Jose Ramirez and Tim Anderson will continue to have new layers be revealed the further we get from the actual event. Anderson finally released an apology following the brawl late last week as he began to serve his suspension.

Now a former Cleveland Guardian came out and spoke about the history the team has had with Chicago dating back to the last couple of years. Austin Hedges was traded to Cleveland as a part of the Mike Clevinger deal with the San Diego Padres in 2020. He spent two more full seasons becoming a fan favorite at Progressive Field.

Hedges was on the Chris Rose Rotation Podcast and was asked what his reaction was he saw the brawl. He said:

"That felt long overdue I think. The Cleveland-Chicago rivalry is real man. I mean, being there for three years, whenever we played the White Sox it was just something was bound to happen ... (Anderson) said certain things, that I'm not going to repeat, passing by me. It's just what he does. He has something to say all the time and for no reason."

Hedgey could have easily brushed off this topic and answered it without stirring up any drama. Instead, he came to the defense of his former team and confirmed everything Ramirez said about Anderson "disrespecting" the game directly after the fight happened.

Of course, White Sox fans were not pleased with what Hedges had to say and voiced that displeasure in the comments. However, it more and more feels like this altercation is something that had been brewing for a long time.
