Marlins Legacy Heating Up at Plate as Miami Keeps Pace in NL Playoff Race

The Miami Marlins are getting set to host the Pittsburgh Pirates in their next home series. The Marlins just won their latest home series with the Los Angeles Angels thanks to a lot of offense from the Fish.
Specifically speaking Griffin Conine hit two home runs on Sunday in the 12-3 victory over the Angels. Conine is up to 12 home runs on the year and a .893 OPS in a very limited sample size of 52 games for the Fish this season.
Manager Clayton McCullough has to be happy with what he is seeing from his team in terms of offensively. The Marlins outscored the Angels 19-3 in the last two games of the series Saturday and Sunday.
And knowing that there is uncertainty surrounding slugger Kyle Stowers and his recent injury, Conine could make a name for himself if he keeps hitting. Conine is one of those guys that really needs to heat up if the Marlins want to keep pace in the National League Wild card race.
Conine is not expected to be providing a lot of offense because there are bigger sluggers on the team like Stowers, Otto Lopez, and Heiberto Hernandez among others. But if he were to find consistent hitting knowing he just got healthy, that would be huge for the Fish and staff.
Conine could be crucial to a possible playoff run for the Fish
There is still an outside chance that the Marlins make the playoffs this season as a wild card depending on their own play and how the teams ahead of them fare. And if the Marlins are to make the playoffs, they need more offense from a guy like Conine.
The fact that he hit two home runs in the same game, one off of a position player, it shows that he has the power to figure this out. He has the hitting tool to get the ball out of the park and has been heating up at the plate, he can find that consistency.
He is a guy that can come up to the plate and be patient and come through in clutch moments. There is no guarantees that the Marlins make the postseason, they could still miss the postseason at the end of the day.
But if these names that are not of the usual variety like Conine really step up, there is a decent chance that they make it. McCullough needs to have his team ready and needs to find that extra gear from his squad.
