Finally, Progress for Red Sox's Kristian Campbell

The former Boston Red Sox top prospect is thriving down in Triple-A right now.

Despite the Boston Red Sox's four-game losing streak, there are few things not to like about this club.

Boston still has the No. 2 American League Wild Card spot and has a 4 1/2-game lead over the Texas Rangers for the No. 3 spot. The Red Sox are in a rut right now, but they'll be just fine. The Red Sox turned their season around and just got Adley Rutschman on the field on Tuesday night for the first time. Plus, Roman Anthony has made significant progress in his injury recovery.

If the Red Sox go looking for more offense, there's another internal option down in Triple-A tearing it up right now as well. That is former top prospect Kristian Campbell.

Kristian Campbell Has Been Red-Hot

Last year, Campbell broke camp with Boston to kick off the 2025 season. He shined right away and earned a long-term contract extension, but cooled off and was demoted. Campbell hasn't been back up in the big leagues since. But he's making a case for himself.

Since July 10, Campbell has slashed .379/.482/.576 with a 1.057 OPS, three home runs, 16 RBIs, 13 walks, four doubles and 15 runs scored in 20 games. In that stretch, Campbell struck out 21 times in 20 games. Even that is a positive step. Last year after Campbell was demoted, he struck out 84 times in 73 games. That's 1.15 strikeouts per game. Campbell's 21 strikeouts over the last 20 games is 1.05 strikeouts per game.

We're finally starting to see the version of Campbell that broke onto the scene last season with the Red Sox to kick off the 2025 season. He's striking out less, making good contact more, and consistently getting on base. Since July 10, Campbell's BAbip is .512, meaning that when he puts the ball in play, his batting average is .512.

Campbell has gotten his playing time out in the outfield this season. He has seen action at all three spots. For the Red Sox, they're completely set in center field and right field with Wilyer Abreu and Ceddanne Rafaela. Jarren Duran has been solid defensively in left field this season. He has taken some heat, but he's actually in the 90th percentile in outs above average this season. Duran has started to heat up of late, but he hasn't looked the same offensively this season. If the Red Sox were to try to add a spark, Campbell could be that guy.

At the very least, he's making a case for himself, and that's good for Boston.
