NBA rumors: Paul George traded to Thunder, Blake Griffin stays with Clippers

NBA free agency opens up at midnight on Friday, but major moves are already being made.

NBA free agency opened up at midnight on Friday, and as usual, many of the league’s top players will decide on their futures in the coming days.

The first week of July annually ushers in a frenzy of action around the league, and this year is no different.

Chris Paul has already been traded to the Rockets, and Phil Jackson is out in New York. Paul George has been traded to the Thunder. Blake Griffin is staying in Los Angeles. Gordon Hayward, Kyle Lowry and Paul Millsap are among the big name free agents.

Unrestricted free agents can agree to deals but cannot sign contracts until July 7, when the NBA's moratorium period ends.

Here are the latest news and rumors from around the league.

1:30 a.m.

• The Lakers reached out and made contact with Andre Iguodala, Rajon Rondo and Ben McLemore on Saturday. (Ramona Shelburne, ESPN)

• Jrue Holiday will give the Pacers consideration in free agency. He has an offer to stay with the Pelicans. (Tony Jones, Salt Lake Tribune)

• The Wizards continue to meet with restricted free agent forward Otto Porter. (David Aldridge, TNT)

• Rudy Gay presently has four meetings scheduled through July 4. (Marc Spears, ESPN)

• Gordon Hayward will meet with the Heat on Saturday, the Celtics on Sunday and the Jazz on Monday. (Adrian Wojnarowski, ESPN)

• The past animosity between Mike D’Antoni and Carmelo Anthony surrounding their split with the Knicks won’t keep Anthony from joining the Rockets. Both men have moved on from it. (Brian Windhorst, ESPN)

• George Hill has broken off talks with the Spurs. The Nuggets and Knicks have been in contact with him. (Shams Charania, The Vertical)
