The Los Angeles Clippers are picking up former Philadelphia 76ers center, Kai Jones.

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the Clippers plan to bring on Jones just in time to have him join the roster ahead of the 2024 NBA Playoffs.

Although Jones was a member of the Sixers this season, he never possessed the opportunity to suit up and play for them.

After going through a workout in Philly back in March, Jones joined the Sixers on a 10-Day deal. As soon as he signed with the Sixers, Jones was assigned to the G League.

The Sixers wasted no time getting Jones to play for the Delaware Blue Coats, but his run was short-lived.

Just two games into his stint with the Blue Coats, Jones suffered a hamstring injury. He ended up sitting out for the remainder of his ten-day stint.

Jones’ time with the Blue Coats ended after two games. He averaged 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block per game.

It’s unclear what the Sixers’ long-term plans were for the young veteran initially. At first, the Sixers wanted to see what Jones could bring to the table in the G League for his first ten days. Then, a second 10-Day deal could’ve been on the table, offering Jones an opportunity to join the main roster for a tryout.

Once the injury occurred, that derailed Jones’ chances of making the roster. Now, he’ll get an opportunity to compete with the Clippers, who are playoff-bound.
