Caris LeVert Talks About What Went Right For The Cavs In Their Win Over The Pistons

Caris LeVert says that defense is what led to the Cleveland Cavaliers' win over the Detroit Pistons.

The Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Detroit Pistons on Saturday night in a dominant fashion. It felt like a must-win for the Cavs who have struggled a lot over the last few weeks.

Thankfully, a win is what they got and there were quite a few parts of the game that were going well for Cleveland.

Caris LeVert broke down what he thought led to the team's success saying:

"We pride ourselves on being the best defense in the NBA. So especially teams like that we want to start early and don't let up. It doesn't really matter who we're playing, we just want to hold our standards the whole time.

Especially in the second half when we kind of opened it up a little bit, it's easy to move it in transition especially when we get stops so I think we did a great job of that."

The Cavs have had one of the best defenses in the NBA for the majority of the season, according to defense rating. However, that has slipped a little bit because of their recent inconsistency. But they turned up that defensive intensity against the Pistons.

LeVert commented on how he felt that their defense led to points in transition and the box score backs that up. The Cavs got 28 of their points from turnovers and they forced a season-high 17 steals.

Cleveland also had 25 fast break points which are quite a few for a team that has the slowest pace of play in the NBA.

The Pistons are not a playoff contender and most likely have their eyes set on the draft and free agency, but that shouldn't take away too much from Cleveland's win. The Cavs were looking to get back on track and they succeeded in doing that by playing the style of basketball that has gotten them to this point in the season.
