Clippers Legend's Strong Statement on De'Aaron Fox Trade to Spurs

Former Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams makes statement on San Antonio Spurs trading for De'Aaron Fox

As the NBA trade deadline approaches on Thursday, this past weekend start it off with two blockbuster deals. To start, the Los Angeles Lakers agreed to a three-team deal with the Dallas Mavericks to acquire Luka Doncic for Anthony Davis. Then less than 24 hours later, the San Antonio Spurs agreed to a three-team deal to land De'Aaron Fox from the Sacramento Kings.

With all of the change happening across the NBA, fans and media have been reacting and providing their thoughts and predictions on the trade. One of those was former Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams, who made his stance known on the Fox trade to San Antonio.

"They didn't lose any of their guys, still got lot of their young talent," Williams said on Run It Back earlier Monday. "We knew for sure a [Stephon] Castle or [Devin] Vassell, one of those guys, were going to be involved in this trade. San Antonio, they made off like thieves in the night. Able to keep all of their young talent and build this team out."

Instead of giving up any of their core young players, San Antonio parted ways with Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and Sidy Cissoko along with several draft picks. Still with plenty of picks over the next several drafts, San Antonio now has a promising young core around Wembanyama in year two.

While there's no rush to contend now, the Spurs currently sit as the 12th seed in the Western Conference but could make a strong push for the play-in tournament after the All-Star break.
