While NBA's in-season tournament counts towards the regular season, and is incorporated into the 82-game schedule, the in-season tournament championship game is separate. An additional game for the last two teams standing, the in-season championship game will not count towards the regular season standings.

While that final match of the in-season tournament is held outside of the regular season schedule, it was recently revealed by ESPN's Tim MacMahon during an NBA Today segment that the NBA would count that game towards Ja Morant's 25-game suspension if the Memphis Grizzlies were to make it that far.

While MacMahon acknowledged the unlikely nature of Memphis being one of the last two teams standing without their best player, it's still something that needs to be addressed, and could end up being a major development if the Grizzlies are able to make the in-season tournament championship game.

Currently set to return on December 19th vs. the New Orleans Pelicans, Morant would be eligible to return on December 18th vs. the OKC Thunder if Memphis made the in-season tournament championship game. This will be something to watch for as Memphis competes in this first ever in-season tournament, and will be somewhat of an added incentive for the Grizzlies to be one of the last two teams standing.

Set to be without Morant for 25 games, the Grizzlies are certainly looking forward to getting him back.
