The Utah Jazz have announced a new contract for their recently-signed guard Kennedy Chandler.

According to a release from the Jazz, they've agreed to another 10-day contract with Chandler to ink him on for the next five games of the season.

Chandler has been with the Jazz since their March 21st matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers in which he posted a career-high 19 points in his team debut, and has since played six games with Utah.

Now, Utah has clearly liked what they've seen enough to sign Chandler on for another 10 days, which will nearly sign him on until the end of the season.

On his second 10-day deal, Chandler will be suiting up in their home matchup vs. the Denver Nuggets, then for a three-game road trip against the Houston Rockets, OKC Thunder, and New Orleans Pelicans, then back at home against the Memphis Grizzlies.

After the contract expires, the Jazz will have just one game left in the regular season—on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers—where they could decide to sign Chandler to a rest-of-season deal to play in that game, or they could just decide to let it end without another contract.

Regardless, it's another welcomed opportunity for Chandler to play in the next five games of the Jazz's season to showcase his talents after being called up from the G League, and should be set to have a significant role in the rotation throughout his upcoming stretch.

Kennedy Chandler Earns Another 10 Days With Jazz

Since signing with the Jazz at the end of last month, Chandler has performed well in his opportunities as one of the rotation's primary point guards, considering both Keyonte George and Isaiah Collier have missed significant time with hamstring injuries.

In his previous six games, Chandler has averaged 14.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists while shooting 43.1% from the field, playing in just over 32 minutes a game.

It's been in those reps that he's also gained some noteworthy praise from Jazz head coach Will Hardy in his limited sample size.

"I thought he handled himself great," Hardy said after Chandler's Jazz debut. "It's not easy to do what he just did; in terms of stepping in, and then, you're not in a role where you're off the ball."

"He's on the ball a lot at the beginning of the possessions, and that adds a layer of pressure, and puts you kind of in the spotlight. I thought he played great."

As the Jazz are set to continue to deal with injuries in their backcourt for their final games that remain, especially with Elijah Harkless being the latest to deal with a hamstring injury of his own, expect to see a large chunk of Chandler in the lineup moving forward.

Chandler made his first start against the Cleveland Cavaliers, where he had 12 points and five assists in a staggering 40 minutes.

Now that he's officially locked in for another five-game slate, he could be eyeing a similar share of playing time as soon as the Jazz's next game on the calendar against the Nuggets.
