After Kyrie Irving requested a trade and was dealt to the Dallas Mavericks, many felt that Kevin Durant could also be on his way out of Brooklyn. That pairing of Durant and Irving did not amount to much, but there was still some optimism that Brooklyn could contend for a championship this season with those two leading the way.

Any team that has Kevin Durant on their roster must be competing for championships, and if Brooklyn seemed no longer equipped to do that after dealing away Kyrie Irving, it was reasonable to expect teams to begin inquiring about Durant's availability. That has indeed happened, but according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nets do not plan to trade Durant ahead of this Thursday's deadline.

Wojnarowski confirmed that several teams have inquired about KD's availability, but the Nets are not intending to trade their franchise star in the next two days. Should a trade become necessary, it will be revisited in the summer when both the Nets and other teams have a better gauge on where their franchises stand.

In between now and the trade deadline, the Nets are expected to pursue more deals that will improve their roster around Kevin Durant. The team still has championship aspirations, as they should with a player of Durant's caliber, and are not yet ready to enter a rebuild after dealing Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks.
