Ben Simmons left the Nets’ game against the Timberwolves after playing 18 minutes due to a left leg injury. The original diagnosis was a left knee injury, which was more worrying, but thankfully, it was a leg issue.

Brooklyn has no plans for Ben to undergo imaging, which is a positive update since he can return anytime soon. For the game against the Grizzlies, Simmons is listed as questionable on the injury report, meaning he can already play in Memphis.

Simmons faced a similar issue before

This latest injury is all too familiar for Ben because he faced multiple left leg issues early in the 2022/23 season. Additionally, he missed two extended periods due to a left knee ailment, which required to have his blood drained and PRP injections. Lastly, he also had trouble with a left calf strain, which amplifies the concerns regarding Simmons’ left leg.

Thankfully, this injury does not seem to be as bad, as it’s just soreness he felt against Minnesota. It’s a good sign since he can return as soon as possible and help interim head coach Kevin Ollie lead the team back to the postseason.

It would be best to wait for Ben to return to full strength, but the reports say he just needs to rest for a bit, as it’s an encouraging sign.

Simmons is vital to the Nets roster

As Brooklyn’s starting point guard, Ben is one of the vital members of the roster. He’s the team’s best playmaker with the highest defender ceiling, given his size to match up with point guards up to centers.

Getting him healthy would be fantastic for Brooklyn because it gives Coach Ollie more lineups. Ben playing a point-forward role could work when surrounded by legitimate perimeter shooters.

The Aussie guard must get healthier soon, as he’s crucial to the Nets project. His absence was a huge reason why the team struggled against former coach Jacque Vaughn, and losing him now after Ollie’s promotion could torpedo the team’s plans of getting into the Play-In Tournament.
