Nuggets Get Christmas Day Showdown With Stephen Curry, Warriors

The Denver Nuggets are going to be playing on Christmas Day this season–– and it'll be against none other than the Golden State Warriors.

According to an announcement from the NBA, the Nuggets are going to be facing the Warriors in Golden State on December 25th, coming in as the last of a five-game slate at 8:30 p.m. MT.

The NBA will feature five games on Christmas Day (Friday, Dec. 25) for the 19th consecutive year, with ABC and ESPN both televising each matchup.

The five-game slate is pretty loaded. An NBA Finals rematch, Giannis facing the Boston Celtics, a reunion between LeBron James and the LA Lakers, and two games with some superstar talents from the Western Conference.

As the matchup relates to the Nuggets' schedule, it's the first of many games that are set to be released for Denver's regular season this week.

The NBA is releasing its regular season schedule on Thursday, and therefore, reveal where and when the Nuggets are going to be playing from late October to mid-April.

But this reveal holds a bit more importance, considering the extra stakes that are in play for a Christmas Day game for any NBA season.

The matchup is also going to mark another date in the Nuggets' recent stretch of Christmas Day games, which has now become a pretty common trend to see throughout the past half-decade.

Nuggets Continue Recent Slate of Christmas Day Games

It'll actually be the fifth year in a row that the Nuggets are scheduled for a game on Christmas Day, and their second in five years in which they'll be tasked against the Warriors.

The Nuggets' last Christmas Day game against the Warriors came back in 2023, when Denver claimed a win that was in Ball Arena, 120-114.

Stephen Curry had 18 points on 33.3% shooting, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray combined for 54 points, and it was actually a game that Draymond Green was suspended for following his punch on Jusuf Nurkic in November of that year.

But hopefully this season, the Nuggets will be able to face a fully available Warriors team, Denver will be fully healthy at this point in the year, and try to continue what's been a pretty successful recent stretch on Christmas Day.

The Nuggets are 3-1 on Christmas Day in the past four seasons, and come off a win last year in what was a thrilling overtime victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves, 142-138; a game that many consider the best game Denver has played on the holiday in recent memory.

Nikola Jokic's record in Christmas Day games, though, is pretty average, all things considered. He's 3-3 throughout his career. But the same can be said for Stephen Curry, who is 5-7 across his career with 12 total appearances.

Each superstar will be looking to make a statement in this one, and especially so for the Warriors and Curry, who have continued to struggle against the Nuggets throughout their past few matchups. Denver is 11-4 in their past 15, dating back to 2022.

Expect to see many more Nuggets games revealed in the coming days until the schedule is fully revealed, but also expect to see Denver on center stage facing the Warriors at the end of the 2026 year on Christmas Day.
