Mat Ishbia Has Given Suns 'Clear Focus'

New Phoenix Suns owner Mat Ishbia has allowed general manager James Jones a "clear focus" mentality.

The Phoenix Suns sure look a lot different under new owner Mat Ishbia.

Ishbia took over for Robert Sarver just hours ahead of the NBA trade deadline. In the late stages of the night, Kevin Durant was brought to the Valley after completion of arguably the biggest trade in franchise history.

More changes arrived following Phoenix's early exit from the postseason, impacting both the coaching staff and roster. Notable staples such as Monty Williams and Chris Paul were sent packing in exchange for Frank Vogel and Bradley Beal.

A recent strong group of free agents added to the squad have allowed new life to breathe on the team, and Suns general manager James Jones says it's all thanks to Ishbia's business-like attitude:

“He talked about speed, focus and understand what it is we’re trying to accomplish and get after it. Don’t second-guess it, don’t overthink it. Trust your instincts, trust your team and then go out there, find the best options for us and then make those options work," Jones said to the Arizona Republic

"For me, it’s clear focus. He’s given me clear direction that allows me to focus on the things I enjoy the most, which is figuring out how to maximize the environment for our players and coaches and get a win.”

More moves could potentially be on the way later in the season, depending on how the Suns feel about their lineup - we won't know until we see them on the court together for a good chunk of games.

However, it's become clear the Suns are operating differently - and that's for the better.
