Report: Bengals 'Made Their Initial Push to Sign Joe Burrow,' Want to Sign Tee Higgins/Logan Wilson After QB
CINCINNATI — Contract negotiations with Joe Burrow are in full swing during a reported busy summer for the Bengals.
Jeremy Fowler updated the contract situation for the team's top players on SportsCenter Tuesday morning.
"I'm told the Bengals have made their initial push to sign Joe Burrow," Fowlers said. "They have started that negotiation process with Burrow and his agents. Now, for a deal this complex there will be a lot of back and forth. Probably a lot of counterproposals, but the ball is at least rolling, and I'm told the Bengals' plan is clear. They want to get Joe Burrow done so that they can also focus on the core. Tee Higgins is a wide receiver they consider elite that they would like to sign to an extension. Linebacker Logan Wilson as well. So a very busy and pricey summer for the Cincinnati Bengals."
If Burrow stays on track with the latest quarterback deals he's set to earn more than $52 million per season.
The big question is how those yearly salaries will be structured to retain those other two talents and more down the line. The ball is rolling towards a finish line that the Bengals hope include Burrow, Higgins, and Wilson.
