Report: 'Process Is Underway' On Joe Burrow's Contract Extension
CINCINNATI — The Joe Burrow extension process is reportedly underway.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler appeared on SportsCenter this weekend and said the two sides are beginning to work towards a deal and want "to do this early."
"The process is underway," Fowler said on the show. He noted the team plans "to do this early, just three years into his rookie deal, to try to spread out that salary-cap hit."
Fowler also said that signing Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase to extensions will be tough, but confirmed the team has already turned away all Higgins trade inquiries from rival teams.
Other talented young passers like Justin Herbert, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts are up for new deals as well.
Burrow's extension will set the stage for all other financial decisions over the next few seasons as Cincinnati tries to keep a contending roster around one of the best players in franchise history.
