Why Orlando Brown Jr. Expects to be Even Better in Bengals’ Offense Blocking for Joe Burrow

Cincinnati is rolling out a tweaked offensive line in 2023.

CINCINNATI — ESPN welcomed new Bengals left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. onto NFL Live this week and the former Chief discussed how the Bengals scheme differs from what he was doing in Kansas City.

"It'll be very different for me personally," Brown said on the show. "A lot of these drops by Patrick (Mahomes) right here in the Super Bowl were similar to kind of what I'm going to see in Cincinnati, but so many different concepts that we run in Cincinnati compared to Kansas City from a pass standpoint with the receivers, you know, it's gonna be a lot more firm. It's gonna be a lot more quicker, you know, I'll be able to be a lot more aggressive in certain situations, just given the personnel and the way that they call plays."

The timing of the Bengals' quick passing game and Joe Burrow's propensity to get the ball out faster than Mahomes are palpable.

Burrow (2.55 seconds time to throw) could help Brown handle those elite, quick pass rushers a little bit better than he has in the past.

Cincinnati's franchise QB had the second-fastest throw time last season, while Mahomes finished 29th. Joe Goodberry expanded on the point in a Twitter thread.
