Report: Bengals Releasing Joe Mixon Ahead of 2024 Season
CINCINNATI — Joe Mixon's time as the Bengals lead rusher is over as the team released him ahead of a $3 million roster bonus deadline on March 18.
Mixon was due to account for a little over 3% of the cap at $8.85 million in 2024. Now Cincinnati will move forward with Chase Brown and likely add a cheap veteran running back option in free agency as the franchise maximizes all of its cap space in 2024.
Mixon finishes his Bengals career as one of the five best RBs in team history, ranking top-three among all Bengals ever in rushing yards (6,412), rushing touchdowns (49), and attempts (1,571).
