Chidobe Awuzie Defending BlitzChamps II Chess Title

The Bengals cornerback is quite the chess player.

CINCINNATI — Chidobe Awuzie is defending his chess title today at BlitzChamps II.

The Bengals cornerback won $25,000 for his charity, Awuzie Kickstep Foundation, after beating an on-field rival in Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper 2-0 in the 2022 final. Cooper also secured $22,500 for his selected charity, The Barnyard.

Plenty of NFL names are competing this year, like Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, Wes Schweitzer and Chazz Surratt of the New York Jets, plus New York Giant Zak DeOssie, and Seattle Seahawks legend Richard Sherman.

The event airs on Chess.com/TV or the website's Twitch and YouTube channels on June 23 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET.
