Buffalo Bills Revealed As Trade Fit for Elite WR

In this story:
A stunning trade possibility has entered the discussion as a way for the Buffalo Bills to upgrade at the wide receiver position this offseason.
As the Bills look to improve their passing game, they’ll be searching through free agency, the draft, and the trade market to find a top-tier talent to pair with Josh Allen as the team moves forward under first-year head coach Joe Brady.
ESPN’s Dan Graziano linked one name to Buffalo in a recent article that floated his top 15 trade candidates across various positions — DK Metcalf. The Pittsburgh Steelers made a head-coaching change this offseason, and it remains unclear whether new HC Mike McCarthy expects Metcalf to fit into his plans for a new-look Steelers offense.

Trade buzz
Graziano also highlighted that, due to a suspension Metcalf incurred this past year upon going after a fan in the stands, the seven-year veteran had $45 million in guaranteed money voided from his contract, which should make him much easier for the Steelers to move in a potential trade.
“Metcalf is a team-specific player; not all systems will endure his limited route tree,” wrote Graziano. “Those teams that already have a dominant route runner or can feed him a steady diet of vertical routes will value a player who is still under 30 and has a unique blend of size and speed—especially when we consider how much team control he offers.”
The article listed Metcalf’s chances of being traded at 25%, with the Bills joined by the New England Patriots and Washington Commanders as potential fits.

Track record
Metcalf is 28 years old and stands 6’4”, weighing 230 pounds. He would provide an instant upgrade to what the Bills have at the wide receiver position, where Khalil Shakir will return as the team’s top producer.
The Bills have been searching for a big, strong target to pair with Shakir, who does much of his work underneath. They took a swing on Keon Coleman in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but things have yet to pan out. Coleman has failed to produce when on the field and has also dealt with a few disciplinary situations that have kept him off the field.
It may be listed as a slim chance, but if the Bills land Metcalf, or a player of his caliber and measurements, it would be a boon for Buffalo’s aerial attack heading into 2026.
