Cardinals Could Take Advantage of Will Levis Slipping in NFL Draft

The Arizona Cardinals could field plenty of phone calls - and perhaps strike a deal with another team - for the talents of Kentucky Wildcats QB Will Levis.

TEMPE -- Arizona Cardinals reporters are slated to speak with No. 6 pick Paris Johnson Jr. here in a few minutes, though focus from the organization is mostly fixated on maximizing the four picks the team has for rounds two and three of the 2023 NFL Draft later tonight.

After a chaotic 45 minutes that featured two trades and three different slots in the top 12, the Cardinals got their guy in Johnson while also obtaining a future first-round pick.

It was a major win for the Cardinals, who were always looking to move down in the first in order to collect more draft picks. It's a strategy that works fairly well for a team with so many holes.

That could indeed continue into the later portions of today, where the Cardinals currently hold the rights to pick 33, the second pick of the day. Arizona also has three third-round picks to work with afterwards, too.

There's plenty of focus on who the Cardinals could take with their early pick. Talented names such as Joey Porter Jr. and John Michael Schmitz are still on the board, though it's Kentucky Wildcats QB Will Levis that's making the most noise.

Levis was rumored to potentially be taken by the Indianapolis Colts at No. 4 yesterday, though the organization ultimately chose Florida passer Anthony Richardson.

No other team chose Levis in the first, either - causing him to fall completely out of Round 1.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have reportedly received plenty of calls on the No. 32 pick, presumably for a team to move up for with Levis.

Should the Steelers stay put, Arizona's phones would be ringing even more than expected for a team to move up and snag Levis at the top of the order.

For a rebuilding team, the Cardinals should absolutely be all ears - if that opportunity arises. The goal for general manager Monti Ossenfort was to acquire as much draft capital as possible while also adding talent.

Arizona could still move down a handful of spots, grab a potential starter and continue stockpiling picks for the future.
