Chargers Injury Report: Bolts Place Zack Bailey On Injured Reserve, Elevate TE

In this story:
The Los Angeles Chargers have been dealing with injuries the entire season, and they will now be hit hard on the offensive line again. The Bolts already lost Corey Linsley for the season, and they will have to go through their playoff push without Zack Bailey.

Zack Bailey had been dealing with a significant back injury and had been kept out of practice this entire week. Instead of allowing the injury to get worse, the Chargers have decided to keep the tackle/guard on ice for the next four weeks.
Though the Bolts need all the help they can get on the offensive line front considering they are set to take on the pass rush of the Denver Broncos, shutting down Bailey is a smart decision. He will be able to rejoin the team presumably during the final game when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs.
However, should the Chargers not be close to a playoff spot by that time, it will likely mean that Bailey will be shut down for the remainder of the season.
To counteract losing Bailey, it was also announced that tight end Stephen Anderson will be called up from the practice squad. Anderson has amassed 271 receiving yards and a touchdown on 24 receptions for the Bolts between 2019-2021.
Anderson is likely going to be used more in blocking situations considering the offensive line is now down two starters. The Broncos' defense is stellar at creating turnovers, so it's good to bring in another big body to protect Justin Hebert.
Sunday's showdown will be important for both teams, as they are vying for a coveted trip to the playoffs. Without Bailey though, things could get tricky if any more offensive linemen go down.
