Interesting Trade Partner Proposed for Giants Regarding Kayvon Thibodeaux

In this story:

New York Giants pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux has been on the trade block ever since the team selected Abdul Carter with the third overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Giants had Thibodeaux and Carter coexist in the defense this past season, but it resulted in a down year for the former Oregon Duck.

Thibodeaux played in just 10 games and recorded a career-low 2.5 sacks for the Giants. Part of that was missing seven games due to a shoulder injury, and he also struggled to get to the quarterback as often as he usually does.

With one year remaining on his contract, the Giants have to decide soon on Thibodeaux's future. And with the door still ajar regarding a possible trade if the offer is right, Bleacher Report writer Moe Moton has an idea that would be a win-win for all involved.

Moton argues that the Packers offer the most logical trade partner for Thibodeaux should the Giants pursue a deal.

Moton suggests that Green Bay could pair Thibodeaux with Parsons for long-term defensive strength.

“It's a risky move given the four-year pro's inconsistent production, but he could benefit from lining up across an elite pass-rusher. Also, new Packers defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon can maximize Thibodeaux's strengths in a mixed front."

Moton believes a Day 2 draft pick could suffice to facilitate a trade between the Giants and Packers.

The Giants have had a practice by which homegrown talent walks out the door with little in return, and there are concerns that if they hold onto Thibodeaux, who is likely going to want to be paid handsomely after his contract is up, he could be next.

Trading Thibodeaux would give Carter more chances to contribute on defense. Both play nearly the same position. This makes it hard for each to show their full value at the same time.

The Giants drafted Carter because he was the best defensive player available at the top of the draft last year, so the team shouldn't be criticized for selecting him.

Choosing Carter also suggested the Giants could soon part with Thibodeaux. A trade could have happened last offseason. The Giants did not like any offers that came their way.

Thibodeaux may have lost some value, but the Giants could still get a solid pick for him. The Giants have seven draft picks, including three in the sixth round.

The only round they don't currently have a selection in is the third. Getting a third-round pick from the Packers, which currently sits at No. 84 overall, could be a move that benefits both sides.
