Six days from today, NFL teams must cut down from their (mostly) 90-man rosters to what they'll be carrying on their regular season roster, 53. Here is the On SI Saints prognostication for who makes the cutdown and who doesn't

Offensive Roster = 25

Quarterback (2):
Tyler Shough
Zach Wilson
There is an option for a third, emergency quarterback, but that man would count against the 53-man roster and we don't see the Saints doing that.

Running Backs (4):
Travis Etienne Jr
Alvin Kamara
Kendre Miller
Audric Estimé
- Devin Neal (PUP/IR designation, out for first four games))

Wide Receiver (6):
Chris Olave
Devaughn Vele
Bryce Lance
Barion Brown
Trey Palmer
Bub Means
- Jordyn Tyson (PUP/IR designation, out for first four games)

Tight End (3):
Juwan Johnson
Noah Fant
Oscar Delp
- Moliki Matavao (PUP/IR designation, out for first four games)
We believe the Saints roll the dice on Matavao getting back, then moving an O-Lineman to the Practice Squad.

Offensive Line (10):
Kelvin Banks Jr
David Edwards
Erik McCoy
Cesar Ruiz
Taliese Fuaga
Asim Richards
William Sherman
Xavier Trust
Easton Kitty
Torricelli Simpkins
We believe once TE Matavao returns, Simpkins will be moved to the Practice Squad

Defensive Roster = 25

Defensive Line (9):
Chase Young
Cam Jordan
Davon Godchaux
Nathan Shepherd
Vernon Broughton
Carl Granderson
Christen Miller
Tyree Wilson
Anfernee Jennings

Linebackers (5):
Kaden Elliss
Pete Werner
Danny Stutsman
Jaylan Ford
Isaiah Stalbird
- Chris Rumph II (PUP/IR designation, out for first four games)

Defensive Backs (11):
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Quincy Riley
Julian Blackmon
Justin Reid
Jonas Sanker
Isaac Yiadom
Martin Emerson Jr
Elliott Davison
Mike Reid
TJ Hall
Jayden Price

Special Teams = 3

Special Teams (3):
Zach Wood (long snapper)
Ryan Wright (punter/holder)
Charlie Smyth (kicker)
Rookie Tanner Brown has not proven to be better than the guy who kicked for you last year.

Then by Noon on Monday, August 31, teams may claim players off waivers from other teams, possibly pushing a handful off the 53-man roster onto the Saints practice squad or onto the streets. The Saints have until the end of the day, August 31st, to fill that 17-man practice squad. Any injury designations, such as those we projected above and others, just be formally declared by 4:00 p.m. Central Time that day.
