Why the Concerns of Seahawks' Hard Knocks are Overrated

In this story:
It isn't common for the Seattle Seahawks to be one of the most underrepresented teams in the league due to their location. The Seahawks are too far north to be mentioned among the West Coast teams consistently like the Los Angeles Rams, and they were too far west to be talked about like the East Coast teams. This is why the Seahawks were a surprise to casual media outlets during the playoffs, because they didn't get much attention.
As the defending Super Bowl champs, football fans and mainstream media want to know more about the team. That is why HBO is highlighting the Seahawks in the training camp 2026 session of Hard Knocks. It marks the first time the defending Super Bowl champs will be represented on Hard Knocks since the show’s beginning in 2001. There are skepticisms behind the Seahawks being shown in many angles. Many of those concerns, however, are overrated, as it is a good time for the team to be featured.
Hard Knocks isn’t a Distraction

One of the biggest knocks against Hard Knocks and other behind-the-scenes coverage of teams. There is a supposed curse on teams covered by Hard Knocks, but a good portion of the teams picked for coverage haven’t been to the playoffs in some time and have a second-year head coach. In other words, most of the represented teams are bad or run on boom-or-bust opportunities. HBO is choosing a different format with the Seahawks this year and the New England Patriots next year.
The idea that teams are distracted during Hard Knocks is a fallacy, as the Seahawks are not like other teams. Good teams don’t get distracted. Seattle has been one of the most focused and disciplined teams over the last few years. Head coach Mike Macdonald and the Seahawks' coaching staff are elite, as are many of their young players and veterans. They aren’t against the exposure and the extra challenge.
Great Opportunity to Learn More About the Franchise

There are many things we’ve learned about the Seahawks within the last two seasons under the leadership of head coach Mike Macdonald. There are also many things that we don’t know about the team based on the lack of overall media coverage. Most of the time we’ve heard about the Seahawks, they were about quarterback Sam Darnold’s turnovers going up until they were getting close to securing the No. 1 seed in the NFC. Casual fans know more about Rams’ Puka Nacua than the reigning Offensive Player of the Year, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
This Hard Knocks series is a perfect opportunity to get to know all the coaches and players that make the team a Super Bowl winner. It will be fun to see the high-level characters that make the team unique, like tight end A.J. Barner, linebacker Ernest Jones IV, and JSN . This show will also be a chance for fans to get more of a connection to new players like running back Emanuel Wilson, cornerback Noah Igbinoghene, and the incoming rookie class as they battle for a starting or roster spot.
