PITTSBURGH -- New Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers helped to lead the Steelers to a win over the Minnesota Vikings in the first ever regular season game in Ireland, winning in Croke Park 24-21.

The Steelers got out to an early lead, but struggled down the stretch. The offense which was led by Rodgers, running back Kenneth Gainwell and wide receiver DK Metcalf ushered in a possible new era of dominant Steelers offense. The defense and team play down the stretch faltered, leading to a close result, but the Steelers offense helped to come away with the win.

During the game, Rodgers hit Metcalf for a passing touchdown that spanned 80 yards, which caused Rodgers to set an NFL record for most passing touchdowns over 50 yards.

Rodgers Joins Brady

He also, during the game, joined an elite group of now two quarterbacks who have thrown for more than 60 passing touchdowns against two different teams, as Rodgers hit the 60 mark against the Vikings in the win. The only other player to do so is Tom Brady, who had 72 against the Miami Dolphins, 72 against the Buffalo Bills and 60 against the New York Jets in his career.

In order for Rodgers to reach a third team, he would have to throw 6 more touchdowns against the Detroit Lions. The Steelers are currently scheduled to play the Lions this season for the third-to-last game of the regular season. Even if Rodgers plays exceptionally well, he would likely require at least one more matchup against the Lions on top of that one in order to reach the six touchdown mark. Rodgers' high for passing touchdowns so far this season is 4, so it is a near certainty that a six touchdown game will not happen this season.

With the Steelers not set to play the Lions in 2026, the 3-team mark is unlikely to be hit by Rodgers if he remains in Pittsburgh. He is nearing the conclusion of his career, so it will be interesting to see if he ends up on a team that will play the Lions, or if some other circumstances cause him to reach the vaunted mark.
