Update

The Pittsburgh Steelers have released their first injury report of the week as they get ready to take on the Indianapolis Colts.

Michael Pittman Jr. (foot) was a limited participant, as was Rico Dowdle (toe) meaning he’s making progress after missing each of the Steelers’ past two games.

Earlier in the week, Dowdle told reporters that he was, "supposed to be working in a little bit," this week and went into detail on what needs to happen before he can return.

"It's about letting the tissue heal, like the scar underneath so it don't keeping popping out because if it keeps popping out, I'll have to get surgery and put a pin in there," Dowdle said. "It's just about trying to let the tissue come back together... It's painful obviously, 'cause it's like I got knots in the bottom of my feet."

Jamel Dean (ankle) was listed as a non-participant, which doesn’t come as a surprise considering he’s expected to miss several games after going down in Pittsburgh’s Week 4 to the Cleveland Browns.

Jalen Ramsey (wrist) also didn't practice. He broke his wrist in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals and played against the Cleveland Browns in Week 4, though it feels likely to be an ongoing issue.

The Steelers signed Sean Murphy-Bunting and Terell Smith from the practice squads of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Commanders, respectively, as a means of supplementing their cornerback room following Dean's injury as well as their trade of Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys.

Original Story

The Pittsburgh Steelers have an injury development worth watching with Michael Pittman Jr.

On the first day of practice ahead of the Steelers' Week 5 matchup against Pittman Jr.'s former team, the Indianapolis Colts, the veteran wide receiver was seen moving around with his left foot on a scooter.

He has been dealing with a foot injury this season that kept him out of Pittsburgh's Week 2 loss to the New England Patriots.

Pittman Jr. returned in Week 3 against the Cincinnati Bengals and was also active vs. the Cleveland Browns in Week 4. He didn't make much of a splash in either of those contests, though, finishing with a combined 31 yards on four catches.

Plantar fasciitis, which Pittman Jr. is battling through, usually lasts a while and can be a hinderance for a sustained period of time.

As such, it's fair to assume that Pittman Jr. is playing far from 100 percent and thus has been significantly hampered.

It remains to be seen how he progresses or where he stands in his recovery moving forward. Considering the Steelers signed him to a three-year, $59 million extension after acquiring him from the Colts in the offseason, however, the team really needs him to be out and producing there if the offense is going to really get going.
