Before the Tennessee Titans kicked off against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2 at Nissan Stadium, a moment of silence was held for Charlie Kirk, who was murdered earlier this week by a gunman at Utah Valley University.

The NFL mandated a moment of silence for Kirk during the Thursday Night Football matchup between the Washington Commanders and Green Bay Packers a day after the shooting, but the Titans opted to honor the 31-year-old on Sunday, according to Main Street Media reporter Terry McCormick.

Kirk, a right-wing political figure and co-founder of Turning Point USA, was fatally shot at a speaking engagement at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He is survived by his wife Erika and two children, age 3 and 1. The news sent shockwaves across the United States and the world, with many people pledging support for him and his family.

President Donald Trump has a proclamation for flags to be at half-staff until tonight.

"As a mark of respect for the memory of Charlie Kirk, by the authority vested in me as President of the United States by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, I hereby order that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, September 14, 2025," the proclamation reads.

"I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same length of time at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations."

In the aftermath of the shooting, an alleged suspect has been arrested. Tyler Robinson, a 22-year-old from St. George, Utah, was turned in by his father, a longtime sheriff in the state.

The investigation into Robinson's involvement in the shooting is ongoing as tributes flood in from across the NFL, country and the world.
