Akron-Buffalo Week 12 College Football Odds, Lines, Spread and Bet

A best bet for Saturday’s Akron-Buffalo matchup. The Bulls are monster home favorites against the struggling Zips.

(Update: The Akron-Buffalo game has been postponed due to inclement weather. There's a possibility the game could be played on Sunday. Nothing is yet definitive.)

In a MAC East battle, the Buffalo Bulls host the Akron Zips in what will be the 22nd contest between the two schools—with Akron holding the edge with 11 wins. The Bulls have dominated this series in recent memory, winning six of the last eight and ten of the last eleven contests.

The Bulls are anchored by a pair of productive running backs, Ron Cook Jr. and Mike Washington. Buffalo is averaging 29.8 points per game, third-most in the MAC. Not to be outdone, the Zips feature the second most-productive air attack in the MAC, averaging 283 passing yards per game. But Akron will need to take advantage of Buffalo's underperforming rush defense, which is allowing 183.8 yards per game, second-most in the conference.

This is your Weather Channel Special. With an epic lake-effect snow expected to bury Buffalo Saturday, a normally nondescript Mid-American Conference game now demands our attention. Basic rule of thumb: Take the under if multiple feet of snow are on the ground. The example came Wednesday night in the MAC when Western Michigan and Central Michigan flailed through the snow to a 12-10 finish.

Akron is a dreadful 1-9, but still appears to be competing, with four of the losses in October and November coming by a touchdown or less. Buffalo is on a two-game losing streak of its own. So we’ll see who really wants to be there and whether they can mount any offense in a massive blizzard. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow.
