Play Alberta vs. BetMGM has become a major distinction since July 13, 2026, as Alberta opened its betting market to new operators. I've compared key features, market coverage, promotions, and more across platforms, and BetMGM comes out on top in every category.

Private operators compare favourably against government-backed sportsbooks in most cases. BetMGM, for example, has much more competitive odds than its Play Alberta counterpart. It also has more expansive betting markets, particularly regarding SGP and prop betting.
