To say the layout of the BetMGM betting app beats competitors at every turn is an understatement. Markets on the BetMGM app are easy to find when on the move or multitasking, and lag is almost nonexistent when moving between prop and game screens — the perfect app for fast-paced sports, making it one of the top NASCAR betting sites in the country.

Links to their casino and customer loyalty rewards products were easy to find and enabled smooth lineup and wager tracking during busy nights, when other apps might have forced me to miss plays or updates.

Using BetMGM during longer research sessions on my phone was a great experience, as digging into futures markets always seemed to unearth some great value. If I ever needed a golf bet for an alternate Tour like the LPGA or LIV, I knew BetMGM was the app to open.

Pros

✅ The BetMGM mobile layout was functional and not overly flashy, which made longer sessions more enjoyable.
✅ Switching between the sportsbook and casino on the app was easy, with little to no lag.
✅ I rarely left without finding a bet I wanted. The overall market depth on the BetMGM app was unmatched in many areas. 

Cons

✖️ Somewhat slower or less responsive than the top betting apps when switching between live betting markets.
✖️ Promos weren't as easy to find or as plentiful as the top three gambling apps in my reviews.

🔥 If you're deciding which app to put on your home screen, BetMGM's numbers are hard to ignore. As of this summer, the app is sitting at a 4.8 star rating on the Apple App Store across more than 250,000 reviews, which puts it near the top of the pile for sportsbook apps in North America.

🔥 I'll admit I was skeptical of BetMGM's app a few years back. It felt clunky compared to the competition. That's not the case anymore. The live betting console updates in real time, cash out is reliable, and the interface finally feels like it was built for people who bet on their phones during the game, not just after it.

theScore Bet mobile sportsbook app re-launched in the U.S. on Dec. 1, 2025, replacing the ESPN BET app after Penn Gaming and ESPN agreed to end their sports betting partnership.

As a results-oriented person, being able to track my FanCash rewards and see my progress kept me coming back to the Fanatics Sportsbook app. It wasn't always where I found the best odds, but it was reliable during high-traffic hours, such as Sunday mornings before NFL kickoff.

Fanatics Sportsbook app overview

Pros

✅ The player images and team logos pop against the dark background for a nice look. 
✅ Fanatics has clearly invested in their parlay tool, and I enjoyed seeing bets go green on wins.
✅ Overall app speed was solid, with very little lag when I switched between markets. 
✅ FanCash reward tracking was easy, and points added up surprisingly fast.

Cons

✖️ Not an app I used much when line shopping, as I found odds to be less competitive in most areas.
✖️ Poorer offerings in some specialty markets like golf.
✖️ On average, it featured fewer overall current user promos than other betting apps.

bet365 is an app I always rely on during high-traffic betting moments, such as NFL Sundays or the Masters. They may not have the best odds available on every market, but they come close, and their selection of wagers across mainstream and niche sports makes them a must for serious line-shoppers.

✖️ Graphics are heavily weighted in one color and not as appealing as some competitors graphics.

Pros

✅ Dark background and clear bet slip make tracking easy and mistake-free.
✅ Parlay builder was a huge plus as odds updated clearly, and legs were easily identifiable.
✅ I loved this app for live betting, as toggling between the live stream and game stats was instant.
✅ Anytime Touchdown markets during the NFL season often had industry-best odds. 

Cons

✖️ I found the player prop sub-menus and interfaces somewhat outdated or even clunky compared to other betting apps. 
✖️ FanDuel also had a higher degree of 'security-driven,' forced log-outs during my testing.

Founded in late 2023, the Hard Rock Bet mobile platform is one of the newer sportsbook apps in the U.S. However, it's made a strong impression so far with its simple layout, which makes it ideal for new bettors and anyone looking for a reliable, no-nonsense app to get started.

It's also home to one of the strongest live betting functions I've come across. Conveniently located on the home screen next to the 'Trending' tab you'll see the 'Live' tab which displays every live sporting event and live odds for you to bet on. It is pre-sorted by the most significant events at the top so you'll always have the most popular events to live bet on at your fingertips.

Launched in 2019 by Rush Street Interactive, the BetRivers app has become a go-to option for beginners looking to get comfortable with online sports betting. It avoids the cluttered feel of some competitors, making it easier to focus on placing bets and tracking updates.

Pros

✅ Clear bet history and live wager tracking built directly into the app experience.
✅ Competitive odds in several game markets for those who like to line shop on their phone. 

Cons

✖️ App layout and graphics feel more basic compared to top-tier apps with richer interfaces.
✖️ Fewer customization options and fewer options for player prop betting than other top sports betting apps.

I started testing sports betting apps because I wanted to know whether the experience actually lived up to the marketing. That meant downloading each app and using it like a regular bettor — depositing my own money, claiming promos, placing pregame and live bets, building parlays, and eventually testing how quickly I could withdraw my winnings.

Not every test went smoothly, which is part of the point. I've compared odds boosts promos on SGPs at live sporting events. I would construct a bet slip and ask a friend to place the same bet, with the same odds boost, using the same app. I was shocked by how often our payouts didn't match. Although it was only by a small margin, this is something I always come back to when I make bets outside a professional setting.

The BetMGM apps' second-chance bonus offers mobile bettors the best value and upside among all the promos tested. It refunds your initial wager in bonus bets, up to $1,500, if you lose, but allows you to keep your stake and the winnings if your first bet settles as a winner.

Based on my testing, the best sports betting apps all payout extremely fast.

However, in our review of the best online sportsbooks for payouts, three did stand out, with BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel leading the way. 

I found that the FanDuel Sportsbook app was especially fast for payouts when using debit cards or e-wallets supported by the platform. The rapid turnaround on these options helped it stand out as a mobile option that bettors will love, with winnings that can be withdrawn quickly.

Most App Store and Google Play users are in line with my rankings of the top mobile sports betting apps in the USA. iOS users typically rate betting apps higher, but most of my top six sports betting apps also receive positive reviews on Android devices.

🍎 Best betting app for iPhone (iOS) users: FanDuel

All of our top five betting apps have ratings of 4.8/5 in the iOS store, but the FanDuel app now exceeds 2M reviews, giving it the edge. I can't say I disagree with this take either, as making parlays on FanDuel with an iPhone is incredibly intuitive, thanks to fast bet slip load times and instant updates on game scores and stats. 

🤖 Best betting app for Android users: DraftKings

My opinion is that the DraftKings app’s consistent 4.6/5 rating among more critical Android users reflects its high-quality, user-friendly interface. Its rating is supported by over 230,000 reviews, almost 200K more than the Fanatics Sportsbook app, the only other sports betting app in our rankings that has a 4.6 rating on Android.

DraftKings to roll out a unified "Super App" 

At its investor day, DraftKings unveiled its upcoming "Super App," designed to bring sports betting, prediction markets, casino games, and lottery together in one seamless mobile platform. The phased rollout is set to align with the NCAA Tournament. Notably, the DraftKings Sportsbook app already attracts over 80% of DraftKings' customer base.

DraftKings most downloaded app in February 2026

Although year-over-year downloads are down nearly 19%, the DraftKings app is downloaded more than any other sports betting app so far in February 2026.

Legal mobile sports betting apps launch in Missouri

Dec. 1, 2025 marked the beginning of legal online sports betting in Missouri. DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics Sportsbook were among the eight betting apps to go live in the Show Me State. 

DraftKings named the exclusive ESPN sportsbook as ESPN BET transitions to theScore Bet

On Nov. 6, 2025, ESPN announced a new multi-year partnership with DraftKings, naming it the network’s exclusive sportsbook and odds provider starting Dec. 1, 2025. As part of the transition, Penn Entertainment retired the ESPN BET app and relaunched theScore Bet.

If you live in a state where betting has yet to be legalized, you might not have access to any of the top-rated sports betting apps. However, that doesn't mean you don't have options. It's important to know the difference between prediction markets and sports betting before buying your first event contract or placing your first wager. 

The best prediction market apps are legal in most of the U.S. and allow you to speculate on sports outcomes through event-contract trading. This includes states such as Texas and California, where sports betting is still outlawed, or in Florida, where sports betting is limited.
