These Two Miami Marlins Players Just Made Team History

In this story:
The Miami Marlins have gotten off to a hot start this season, pouncing to a 5-1 record through six games. This is a young team that many may overlook this season, but they're quickly showing the world why they could be in the fight for a playoff spot.
Yes, it's only a few games into the season, but from what the pitching staff has been able to do, it's been the offense that has taken center stage. If the Marlins make the playoffs, it will be due to the strength of contact hitting at the plate.
That contact-hitting style has already come in handy for Miami, as two young stars have cemented their names in the franchise history books for being some of the best offensive contributors this early in the campaign. Here's a breakdown of the player and the record he set/broke.
Xavier Edwards: Offensive Machine

Revealed by Miami's club communication on X (formerly Twitter), Marlins second baseman Xavier Edwards is the first player in Marlins history to collect at least one hit and score at least one run in six consecutive games to start a season.
He's the first to do so in the MLB since teammate Christopher Morel, who set an MLB record with one hit and one run in 12-straight games to start his 2023 season.
Edwards hitting at the plate means that the Marlins are dangerous. His elite bat-to-ball skills and always being reliable to get on base throughout his career will only continue to help Miami. His speed helps him race to home plate on hits to the outfield, especially by the other Marlins record setter.
Liam Hicks Sets RBI Record

Catcher Liam Hicks has been the team's MVP thus far this season, setting a new record for the Miami Marlins franchise.
"C Liam Hicks has set a Marlins record with 11 RBI through his five games to start the season, surpassing the previous record of 10 RBI by Casey McGehee from March 31-April 4, 2014," Marlins Communications on X (formerly Twitter) posted.
As the Marlins continue down the stretch of 2026, both Edwards and Hicks need to stand out as performers at the plate. Other hitters, such as Kyle Stowers and Otto Lopez, chiming in, would make Miami one of the more feared hitting squads in the league, so long as they score runs.
The Marlins will take on the New York Yankees Friday in New York, hitting the road for the first time.
