Should The Cavs Still Make A Trade For A Wing Even With Dean Wade's Return?

The Cleveland Cavaliers are in desperate need of wing help. Is Dean Wade the answer to their problems or should the team still explore a trade before the NBA trade deadline?

The Cavs are finally returning to being at full strength outside of Donovan Mitchell and Kevin Love still with nagging injuries and Ricky Rubio not playing back-to-backs which is a part of his rehab. This includes forward Dean Wade finally getting back into the rotation after missing a month and a half with a shoulder sprain.

Wade's return from this injury could be more significant than some fans realize. The way he plays over the next week or so could determine whether Cleveland pulls the trigger at the deadline or stays with the roster they have.

The organization is clearly high on Wade. They wouldn't have signed him to a three-year contract extension over the offseason if they weren't.

He allows the Cavs to run taller lineups with him playing the wing while not sacrificing much on defense. Wade is also a solid three-point shooter for his position which come be incredibly important at times.

Dean has made appearances in five games since he returned from the shoulder injury and while his impact hasn't been game-changing, it definitely has been noticeable. In those five games, he's averaging 5.6 points a game, 2.4 rebounds per game, and shooting 40 percent from three all in 18 minutes of play.

His best game was against the Rockets where he scored 15 points while shooting 62.5 percent from the floor and 57.1 percent from behind the arc.

That three percentage jumps out as one of the biggest things that could be a big game changer for the Cavs. When Cleveland needs to space out the floor at times Wade can come in and provide that.

"Three-and-D" players such as the one that Wade can grow into are some of the most valuable assets in the NBA. However, he's not to that level just yet so the Cavs still exploring trade options is still the wise decision for them to win now.
