In this story:

Kevin Durant and Nike have had one of the best partnerships, from a business standpoint. The merchandiser olds the Houston Rockets superstar in a very high light.

So much that they didn’t want to risk losing him, as one of their endorsed athletes. Nike made sure to strike up a lifetime deal with Durant when they faced the very real possibility of losing him to Under Armour, who had Durant’s former Golden State Warriors teammate Stephen Curry signed to their label at the time.

What’s resulted is Durant having the label’s second-longest sneaker, behind only LeBron James. Durant is approaching his 19th sneaker with the label, as the ‘KD 19’ shoe is slated to release this summer. The Rockets star has already started wearing the sneaker, prior to the start of the postseason.

We’ve already seen multiple colorways of the shoe worn by Durant thus far, in red, orange and yellow. We’ve even seen University of Texas superstar Madison Booker donning the orange colorway throughout the NCAA tournament.

Durant has seen several of his sneakers get re-released by Nike, especially ones from much earlier in his career. For example, the KD 4 shoes have been retroed over the years, in several colorways. This year has been the year of the KD 6 re-drop.

We’ve already seen the ‘All-Star Illusion’ colorway come back out, which was an ode to the 2014 All-Star game that was played in New Orleans. In addition, the ‘Peanut Butter and Jelly’ colorway of the KD 6 has also already been re-released.

The next colorway of the shoe that will be retroed is the ‘Aunt Pearl’ colorway, which is expected to drop in the holiday season of this year.

The color pattern is comprised of a pink and blue assortment of colors, along with a white sole.

The shoe colorway was expected to drop in the fall, but is now expected to be released during the holiday season. Durant has previously explained that the Aunt Pearl colorway holds major significance and a deeper meaning for him, as it’s an ode to his aunt who used to watch him after school when he was in grade school.

Durant’s aunt was unable to watch any of his high school, college or pro games, as she sadly passed away before he completed middle school. As it pertains to the KD 6 sneaker itself, the Rockets surefire All-NBA forward has stated that this is the best shoe in his entire collection.
