Monty Williams Responds to Deandre Ayton Comments

After Deandre Ayton told reporters he hasn't spoken to Monty Williams since Game 7, the Suns head coach replied.

We're just two days into the preseason, and the Phoenix Suns have already managed to grab headlines after showing promise of cooling off after an offseason full of rumors and speculation from top to bottom. 

Earlier today, center Deandre Ayton spoke with reporters at Phoenix's first day of training camp and said he hasn't spoke to Williams since the embarrassing Game 7 loss.

"I haven't spoke to Monty, no. I haven't spoke to him at all ever since the game," said Ayton (h/t Duane Rankin)

When asked if he hopes that changes soon, Ayton replied and said, "I'm here" before responding with "Yeah, I'm alright," after being asked if he's happy to be in Phoenix.

"When I'm between those lines man, I just work. I'm not playing for myself. I have an organization across my chest and a name on my back I have to represent."

Perhaps the most interesting comment Ayton made was, "I can show him better than I can tell him," in reference to what he would tell Monty if they spoke.

Shortly after, reporters were able to speak with Williams, who offered his take on Ayton's comments. 

"I don't even think that deeply about it," said Williams. "I think when you lose a game like we lost against Dallas, you can magnify it in so many ways. I just refuse to do that."
