Who Will Lead The Wizards In Scoring This Season?

The Washington Wizards have started the preseason off to a terrific start to say the least. They are 2-0 and playing stifling defense led by rookie Bilal Coulibaly. While this is just a small sample size and preseason, the Washington Wizards look like a different team already. They had a huge roster overhaul, however, this team feels like a different team this season too.

Last season, Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis stole the show offensively. They were the leading scorers for the Wizards last season. Both Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis averaged 23.2 points per game last year. The question that remains unanswered is who will be the leading scorer this year?

The addition of Jordan Poole was huge for the Wizards. We have already seen in the preseason how big of an impact and presence he will have for the Wizards this upcoming season. We will more than likely see a similar role between Jordan Poole and Kyle Kuzma the same way we saw with Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis. They will definitely get an equal opportunity to lead this team in scoring. However, the guy that will be the alpha is Kyle Kuzma.

Kuzma was third in scoring for the Wizards last year. The Wizards had moments last season where they felt like Kuzma could be a number one option. He has already started this preseason red hot out the gate scoring the basketball. It will only get better once the season starts. Jordan Poole is a phenomenal rising star in the NBA. However, he can be extremely streaky at times. When he’s hot, he’s hot. But when he’s cold, he’s freezing!

The beauty of Kyle Kuzma’s game is he is a four level scorer. Jordan Poole is more of a jumpshooter. Kuzma can take you off the dribble, stretch the floor off by being off the ball, post up, and attack the basket to get to the free throw line. Kuzma has led the way scoring in each of the two preseason games for the Wizards thus far. Kyle Kuzma is in for a monster season with the Washington Wizards this upcoming year.
